§ Mr. Allan Robertsasked the Prime Minister what is the total amount of Government aid given to London and Northern Ireland per annum, using the same basis for the assessment as that used in her answer concerning Merseyside to the hon. Member for Bootle on Tuesday 23 June.
§ The Prime MinisterIn the case of Merseyside, I had in mind the relevant annual programmes of the three main Deprtments involved, together with the mainstream capital programmes of the public bodies in the area. In the case462W of Greater London, these programmes should involve expenditure of around £1.4 billion in the current financial year. In the case of Northern Ireland, central Government expenditure is handled through different programmes, and I cannot quote a genuinely comparable figure.
