§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe number of newly built homes started by housing associations in England in the period 1975–1979 was as follows:
1975 18,800 1976 27,450 1977 26,350 1978 17,950 1979 13,900 11,400 were started in the first 11 months of 1980.
Housing associations also rehabilitate existing dwellings. Figures for starts for these dwellings are not available.
§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on the number of new housing association schemes that will be allowed to be started between now and April 1981.
§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThe number of housing association schemes started in the first quarter of 1981 will be affected by the restrictions designed to prevent overspending by the Housing Corporation and local authorities. A number of schemes will, however, be started as a result of tenders already approved, and the Housing Corporation will be giving a limited number of fresh approvals during the quarter.
