HC Deb 28 October 1980 vol 991 c270W
Mr. Speller

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek to amend the existing legislation in order to define gipsies as opposed to other mobile home users for the purposes of the regulations relating to the provision of transit sites for genuine gipsy families.

Mr. Monro

No. We accept the finding of the Cripps report, that the existing definition of a gipsy contained in section 16 of the Caravan Sites Act 1968 is not readily open to improvement and has caused no substantial difficulty in practice.
