asked the Minister of Transport whether he has completed his review of the arrangements for the disposal of houses owned by his Department which are surplus to requirements for road schemes; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Fowler

The major change proposed is that houses which have been leased from my Department by local authorities, housing associations or other bodies will in future be offered first to the sitting tenant, as in the case of direct tenants, at a price which takes account of the tenancy.

These arrangements follow the spirit of this year's Housing Act and will ensure that my Department's tenants, who have no statutory right to buy, will have
