HC Deb 12 March 1980 vol 980 c615W
Dr. John Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will call in the proposals to develop Hodbarrow Lagoon at Millom because of the severe threat posed to wildlife, including many protected species; what action he will take to guarantee the protection of these species and the enforcement of planning conditions; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Monro

I am not aware of any current new planning application to develop Hodbarrow Lagoon at Millom. I understand that Cumbria county council has already granted planning permission to develop 110 acres out of a total of 440 acres, subject to certain conditions including one designed to minimise the damage to nature conservation interests. It is, therefore, for the local planning authority to enforce the conditions attached to the planning consent.
