§ Mr. Fieldasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the most commonly received social security benefit 499W received by those receiving a family income supplement.
§ Mrs. ChalkerThe social security benefit most commonly in payment to recipients of family income supplement is child benefit. Numbers in receipt of other social security benefits at the time they claim FIS are very small. In October 1979, in a 10 per cent. sample of the 70,000 or so families receiving family income supplement, families receiving other benefits were as follows:
Sample numbers families War disablement pension 6 Attendance allowance 1 Industrial injuries benefit 5 Mobility allowance 1 Estimates based on these small sample numbers are clearly subject to a considerable proportionate statistical error, but it is unlikely that, even in the case of war disablement pension, the total number of families would exceed 120.
§ Mr. Fieldasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish the average number of social security benefits received by those receiving family income supplement.
§ Mrs. ChalkerMost recipients of family income supplement receive no other social security benefit except child benefit. Very small numbers receive one other benefit.
