§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will set out in the Official Report a table showing, for each education authority in England and Wales, the numbers of pupils whose tuition fees are paid for them in ordinary private schools and private schools for the handicapped, respectively, together with the totals so expended for each category in respect of tuition and all fees so paid.
§ Dr. BoysonI refer the hon. Member to the list of the numbers of pupils supported by local education authorities at independent schools which I gave in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Newton (Mr. Evans) on Monday 21 January 1980.—[Vol. 977, c. 35–37]. My Department does not prepare figures of expenditure for each local education authority but analyses of their estimates and expenditure are contained in the education statistics published annually by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, copies of which are available in the Library. The education of children in Wales is the responsibility of my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Wales.
