§ Dr. J. Dickson Mabonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many new houses were begun in the calendar years 1964 and 1974 by local authorities, 199W new town corporations, the Scottish Special Housing Association and the private sector; and when final comparable figures for 1979 will be available.
§ Mr. YoungerThe following table shows comparable figures for 1964 and
NEW DWELLING STARTS Year Local authorities New towns SSHA Private sector 1964 … … … … 22,341 3,217 1,677 8,295 1974 … … … … 16,324 2,600 2,578 10,258
Dr. J. Dickson Mahonasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will state for the calendar years beginning in 1980 the number of new housing completions planned by the Scottish Special Housing Association in its present five year rolling programme.
§ Mr. YoungerThe only point I have to add to my reply of 14 February to the right hon. Member is that the association was informed on 21 February that the cash limit on its capital expenditure in 1980–81 will be £42 million at outturn prices.—[Vol. 978, c. 780.] Figures for annual completions are not available; a large part of the asociation's programme is, in any case, rehabilitation rather than new building.
