asked the Secretary of State for Employment what approxi- mate percentage of total expenditure on research by the Health and Safety Executive is devoted specifically to research on (a) occupational health and (b) occupational cancer.

Of the total expenditure on research commissioned and undertaken by the Health and Safety Executive in 1979–80 approximately 36 per cent. was devoted to research on occupational health and 11 per cent. on occupational cancer.
