HC Deb 05 March 1980 vol 980 c247W
Mr. Stephen Ross

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will consider amending the constitution of the Farm Animal Welfare Council so as to provide that those with commercial interests should not vote but sit in an advisory role.

Mr. Wiggin

No; the interest of all members of the Farm Animal Welfare Council whatever their knowledge or experience may be, is to see the standard of animal welfare improved. It would be wholly wrong and inconsistent to differentiate between them.
