HC Deb 04 March 1980 vol 980 c150W
Mr. Latham

asked the Minister of Transport why a pedestrian phase in the traffic signals at the junction of the A6 road at Loughborough Road and Green-gate Lane, Birstall, Leicestershire, has not been provided in the current financial year, despite previous undertakings to that effect from his regional controller; and whether he will give an assurance that it will be installed without fail in the 1980–81 financial year.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

[pursuant to his reply, 3 March 1980]: I understand that undertakings to provide this pedestrian phase indicated that this depended on the availability of funds. Lack of funds stopped this scheme being carried out in the current year. It will be a priority scheme for whatever funds are available in 1980–81 for work of this nature.
