Mr. Field

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will give the expenditure on family income supplement at current prices for 1971, 1975, 1977 and 1978;

(2) if he will give the expenditure on family income supplement at 1977 survey prices for 1971, 1975, 1977 and 1978.

Mr. Field

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will publish (a) the cost of the administration on family income supplement and (b) the expenditure on family income supplement at current prices for the most recent year for which comparable figures are available.

For 1978–79, the latest financial year for which firm figures are available, the cost of administration of family income supplement was £1.4 million and the benefit expenditure £23.9 million.
