HC Deb 24 June 1980 vol 987 c102W
Mr. Henderson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has any plans to implement the Timbury report; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Fairgrieve

The main recommendations in the report relate to improvements in social work and health services and to the development of a new kind of hospital unit. Local authority and health interests are being consulted; replies received to date are generally in favour of the recommendations, but many express serious reservations about costs. When all the comments have been considered, the Secretary of State will announce the policy he proposes to pursue in relation to the report.
