§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergFrom the national dwelling and housing survey in England at the end of 1977, it is estimated that the number of owner-occupied households in which single persons above the retirement age were living alone was 950,000. In 380,000 of these households the person was aged 75 or over. Information on the condition of the structure of the dwellings in which these people lived is not available.

In 210,000 of these households the husband was aged 75 years or over. Information on the condition of the structure of the dwellings in which these people lived is not available.
