§ Mr. Peter ReesBetween 1 April 1979 and 1 April 1980 the permanent staff in post in the Inland Revenue was reduced by 980 EO and higher grades and 5,325 CO and below. Of the total some 4,900 were staff in tax and collection offices and about 1,150 staff in valuation offices, with the balance from headquarters and other offices.
Reductions were made in the networks of Inland Revenue offices throughout the United Kingdom broadly in proportion to staff distribution. A detailed breakdown by area could be provided only at considerable cost.
