HL Deb 03 June 1980 vol 409 c1410WA
Lord BROCKWAY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have noted the letter from Mr. John Block in The Times of 17th May stating this his company refrained from relations with associates in Rhodesia in accordance with the sanctions imposed and asking whether, in view of the decision to take no action against those who contravened sanctions, British companies would not now be "naive to the point of dereliction" if they observed sanctions against Iran; and what they propose to do about this prospect.

Lord CARRINGTON

The question of enforcement of sanctions against Iran has been covered in drawing up the relevant orders. There are provisions for penalties in the orders.
