§ Mr. FowlerSupport for the TUC's Day of Action in the Department was small, amounting to no more than 3 per cent. of the total staff in post. None of the staff concerned hold politically sensitive posts. Such unauthorised absences as there were were mainly by junior officers in the clerical grades at DVLC—262 absences—and in the rest of the driver vehicle licensing directorate—90 further absences.
