HC Deb 02 June 1980 vol 985 c583W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans he now has for the future use of Somerset House.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

My right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and I consider that the Strand block of Somerset House would be suitable as the permanent home of a major art collection. The feasibility of this is being examined. Meanwhile, the Fine rooms are available for temporary exhibitions.
