asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether it is intended to implement Recommendation 80 of the Royal Commission on the National Health Service (Cmnd. 7615) that there should be an independent review of the machinery set up by the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act 1960; and, if so, when.

Consideration of this recommendation has been delayed to take account of proposals made in two recent working party reports issued by the Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine. A decision on the recommendation can be expected later this year.
