HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 c351W
Mr. Mellish

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what steps the Government and the EEC are taking to secure reciprocal access by tanners in the EEC to Spanish woolled sheepskins in the raw, especially in view of Spain's application to join the EEC and her ability freely to buy British rawstock.

Mr. Parkinson

Trade between Spain and the Community is governed by the 1970 Trade Agreement, which contains no provisions that could be used to limit Spanish use of export controls. Spain's accession to the European Community will however require her to terminate such controls.
