HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 c351W
Mr. Haselhurst

asked the Secretary of State for Trade, in view of the progress being made in discussions between the British Airports Authority and the National Farmers Union regarding guidelines for land acquisition in the protected area near Stansted airport, whether he is satisfied that the guidelines will ensure equality of treatment for all those in the 4,000 acres defined in pursuance of his statement on 17 December 1979, Official Report, c. 35–41.

Mr. Tebbit

The guidelines are a matter for the parties concerned but are intended to apply to the wider area of 2,500 acres which is not the subject of a planning application or compulsory purchase orders. Since there is no question of compulory purchase in this wider area I do not accept that the terms of acquisition should be the same.
