HC Deb 19 December 1980 vol 996 c399W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment, since 17 weeks have now elapsed since Mid-Devon district council submitted its application for partial rural area status under the Housing Act 1980, how much longer the council must wait before he determines its application.

Mr. Stanley

Local authorities wishing to have all or part of their districts designated as rural areas were invited to submit detailed applications by 14 November. To ensure consistency of treatment, individual applications could not be considered until that date had passed.

Decisions will be reached as soon as possible on the application from Mid-Devon and those from other authorities.
