HC Deb 18 December 1980 vol 996 c311W
Mr. Haselhurst

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many letters of comment relating to Stansted airport he has received since the announcement of the Government's airports policy; and what proportion of them have registered support for the proposals.

Mr. Fox

Since the parliamentary statement on 17 December 1979 the Department of the Environment has received about 100 letters from hon. Members, local authorities, amenity groups and individuals commenting on the British Airports Authority's Stansted proposals. Following my right hon. Friend's calling-in of the BAA's planning application, Uttlesford district council has submitted 300 letters from individuals commenting on the proposals, in addition to the replies from those bodies who it formally consulted. The number of letters in support of the proposal is very small.
