Mr. Monro

A list of gipsy sites provided by local authorities as at 1 January 1980 is available in the Library and will be up-dated early next year.

Mr. Marks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the present official gipsy sites in each of the Metropolitan boroughs of Greater Manchester and the number of gipsy families in each borough at the last count.

Mr. Monro

Following is the information:

Mr. Marks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many applications he has received from county councils since May 1979 for approval of plans for gipsy caravan sites; and how many have been approved.

Mr. Monro

Since May 1979, 73 schemes for grant-aid have been submitted to the Department for initial approval in principle and the same number have received consent. 89 schemes have also been received for the second stage of final commitment to proceed, and 81 such schemes have received approval.
