Member for Grimsby concerning the increase in the effective exchange rate and earnings, whether he will explain the very different figures quoted for insurance, banking and finance in the August issue of the Monthly Digest of Statistics.
§ Mr. LawsonFigures in theMonthly Digest of Statistics do not show a different increase since December 1979 in earnings in insurance, banking and finance, from that given in my 3 November reply. My reply made it perfectly clear that seasonally adjusted earnings statistics by industry group are not available.
