Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the improvements and the cost of such improvements to Londonderry harbour since the harbour authority was set up, indicating which of these improvements were initiated by the authority and which by the former commissioners.

Mr. Giles Shaw

No improvements have been completed since the establishment of the new harbour authority in 1977, but since 1978 the commissioners have been engaged on a major scheme of improvements at the port's city docks complex. The scheme, initiated by the present board, involves the infilling of a disused dry dock to give an additional length of quay and provision of new transit accommodation. Outlay on these works will be approximately £2½ million.

Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what have been the total sums received as income by Londonderry harbour in actual and constant terms for each of the last 10 years, excluding any sums from public funds.
