HC Deb 08 August 1980 vol 990 cc426-7W
Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will invite the Gaelic Athletic Association, being in receipt of grants from public funds, to withdraw in respect of Northern Ireland, its discrimination against members of the armed forces and police; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Goodhart

The Government find rule 15 of the Gaelic Athletic Association repugnant and urge the association to change it, and note that this rule is entirely alien to the general attitude of those involved in sport in Northern Ireland.
