§ Mr. Rentonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what his policy is with regard to the import of milk and potatoes from other European Economic Community countries into the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerMilk may be imported from other member States of the European Community subject to its compliance with our public and animal health regulations. The United Kingdom operated until 9 April 1979 a ban on imports of main crop potatoes as part of our national guarantee arrangements. That ban was lifted on 10 April 1979 following a ruling by the European Court. Since that date, imports of fresh potatoes from other Community countries have been subject to restriction only on health grounds.
