HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 cc467-8W
Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the passenger fare per mile in (a) Dundee, (b) Glasgow, (c) Edinburgh and (d) Aberdeen on bus services provided by the regional authority; and what were the comparable figures for and percentage increase since 1976.

Mr. Rifkind

This is a matter for the regional authorities themselves in the first instance, subject to the approval of the traffic commissioners. I understand that the fares charged for journeys of up to five miles today and at the end of 1976, are as follows:

between 1960 and the latest available date.

Mr. Fairgrieve

The number of beds available in National Health Service hospitals in Scotland fell by 4,247, or 6.5 per cent., between 31 March 1960 and 31 March 1979.
