§ Mr. Carter-Jones
asked the Prime Minister if she will move to appoint a Select Committee to investigate the spending of British contributions to the EEC fund, what is her policy towards open EEC accounts; and if she will make a statement.
§ The Prime Minister
No. Since the Community budget is financed on a global basis through the own resources system, Community expenditure of United Kingdom contributions cannot be accounted for separately. The Communities' revenue and expenditure accounts are drawn up by the Commission in summary form each quarter under the title "Financial Situation of the European Communities". Copies of the latest244W document, 8982/79, relating to the second quarter of 1979 were deposited in Parliament by the Treasury on 23 October 1979.
