Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Prime Minister if any person in receipt of Government or Treasury payments aided or assisted Mr. Anthony Blunt in the preparation, correction, amendment or alteration of his recent press statement admitting his guilt as a Russion spy.

At the request of Mr. Blunt's legal adviser, Mr. Michael Rubinstein, and on my authority, the Secretary of the Cabinet saw Mr. Rubinstein on 19 November, to ensure that the statement which Mr. Blunt proposed to make the following day contained nothing prejudicial to national security.
