HC Deb 25 May 1979 vol 967 c312W
Dr. Summerskill

asked the Secretary of State for Trade when he expects to complete his urgent consideration of regulations under the Consumer Safety Act 1978, relating to the ignitability of upholstered furniture; and whether he will take into account a recent Home Office report produced on this matter.

Mr. Parkinson

I draw the hon. Member's attention to the reply given to a question by the hon. Member for Hackney, South and Shoreditch (Mr. Brown) on 23 May.—[Vol. 967, c.119.]

In reaching her decision to make regulations relating to the ignitability of upholstered furniture, my right hon. Friend took full account of the recommendations contained in the Home Office report on the fire risks of new materials.
