Mr. Richard Shepherd

asked the Lord Privy Seal what was the total amount of aid given by the United Kingdom in the most recent annual period for which figures are available; and if he will publish in the Official Report the amounts given to each recipient nation.

Mr. Neil Marten

Gross public expenditure on aid in 1978 totalled £733 million. The amounts disbursed to each recipient were as follows:
