HL Deb 22 May 1979 vol 400 c433WA
Lord HOUGHTON of SOWERBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether six lorry loads of sheep sailed from Dover to Ostend on board "Princess Marie Christina" at approximately 14.00 hours, departure having been delayed from 12.40, in gale force 10 to 11 on 26th March 1979, winds gusting at 60 knots, and, if so, whether any official or other representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food was present to witness this sailing.

Earl FERRERS

A veterinary inspector of the Ministry was present when these sheep were loaded. He accompanied them and inspected them during the voyage. He reported that there were no ill effects attributable to the weather.
