HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 c163W
Mr. Watt

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the value of fish taken by European Economic Community vessels within the Scottish 200-mile limit in the two years 1977 and 1978.

Mr. Bishop

Figures for catches within United Kingdom fishery limits by vessels from other member States of the EEC are not yet available for 1977 and 1978. In 1976 their catches within what is now the United Kingdom 200-mile limit are estimated to have amounted to almost 1 million tonnes. The value of this catch would depend on a number of factors including quality and the price relativities for the species concerned in the country of landing. Fishery limits relate to the United Kingdom as a whole and there is no agreed basis for attributing particular waters within those limits to particular parts of the kingdom.
