HC Deb 19 March 1979 vol 964 c402W
Mr. Farr

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what charges are made in respect of the time spent by the fire services in inspecting explosive stores, riding establishments, licensed premises, and industrial premises under the health and safety at work provisions or otherwise, and other analogous duties; how the charges are calculated and what arrangements he makes for periodic reviews.

Dr. Summerskill

Under the Fire Services Act 1974, fire authorities are precluded from making charges for services rendered for the purposes of the extinction of fires and the protection of life and property in case of fire.
