asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many engineer graduates left the United Kingdom for posts abroad in each of the last 10 years.

The only information available relates to new graduates. Excluding overseas graduates returning home and graduates going overseas for research or academic study, the number of new graduates in engineering and technology known to be entering employment overseas was as follows:

in England and Wales in each of the last 10 years.

Following is the information available:

how many children in England and Wales in each of the age groups under 8 years, 8 to 9 years, 9 to 10 years, 10 to 11 years, 11 to 12 years, 12 to 13 years, 13 to 14

years, 14 to 15 years, 15 to 16 years, and over 16 years are learning a foreign language; and in each case what proportion this is of the total age group,

(2) how many children in England and Wales in each of the age groups under 11 years, 11 to 12 years, 12 to 13 years, 13 to 14 years, 14 to 15 years, 15 to 16 years and over 16 years are learning two or more foreign languages: and in each case what proportion this is of the total age group.
