§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if she will make a statement on the current pay negotiations of university technicians; whether their case is to be referred to the pay comparability Commission; and if she will undertake in advance to accept and implement any recommendations the Commission may make with regard to university technicians.
§ Mr. OakesIt is for the negotiators, representing the university authorities and the technicians' unions initially to decide whether it is their wish that the case should be referred to the Standing Commission on pay comparability. They have so far reached no agreement. It will be for the university authorities ultimately to take decisions about implementation but the cost implications will need to be considered by the Governemnt.
