§ Mr. Les HuckfieldThe report concerns the day-to-day operations of the Post Office for which under the Post Office Act of 1969 the corporation has a substantial measure of autonomy. The Post Office tells me that it has already identified many of the points made by POUNC and some of the recommendations have already been implementcd—for example, concerning latest posting time maps for public display. The Post Office intends to act on other recommendations without delay, and will have detailed discussions with POUNC. I welcome the spirit in which both parties are co-operating to tackle the problems referred to in the report.
