HC Deb 07 March 1979 vol 963 c694W
37. Mr. Hooley

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his policy regarding the holding of public inquiries into any planning proposals for substantial extensions of facilities relating to production, enrichment or processing of nuclear fuels and fissile materials.

Mr. Shore

Where such projects require planning permission it will normally be desirable, if they involve signficant new technology, for there to be a public inquiry.
