HC Deb 07 March 1979 vol 963 cc693-4W
36. Mr. Michael Marshall

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what independent studies he is currently considering regarding the further expansion of Gatwick airport.

Mr. Shore

None. A public inquiry will be held into the British Airports Authority's application for permission to develop a second terminal at Gatwick airport. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and I will issue a statement of the matters that appear to us to be relevant. It will then be for the parties concerned to produce evidence on these, and any other matters which are shown to be relevant, for examination at the inquiry.
