§ Mr. Critchleyasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether he is satisfied with the safety standards pertaining to plate glass.
§ Mr. Mayhew, pursuant to his reply [Official Report 25 June 1979], gave the following answer:
I am aware that the British Standards Institution has recently issued for public comment a draft revision of its code of practice CP 152 "Glazing and fixing of glass for buildings", which applies to plate glass as to other types of glass, and includes relevant safety provisions. I am informed by the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that the Health and Safety Executive is preparing comments on such of these safety provisions as fall within its field of responsibility.
Questions concerning safety standards in domestic glazing are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment.
