HC Deb 20 June 1979 vol 968 c599W
Mr. Thomas Cox

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the properties owned in May bury Street, Tooting, London S.W.17, by the St. George's hospital, Tooting; and how many of these properties are now empty.

Sir George Young

Thirty-six maisonettes and six houses in Maybury Street are vested in the Secretary of State for Social Services, of which 13 maisonettes and one house are unoccupied. Plans are in hand for the eventual use of Maybury Street for the St. George's hospital redevelopment. Meanwhile part of Maybury Street is to be demolished for temporary car parking, as the unoccupied properties are unfit for habitation and renovation would be un-economic. There are also four empty maisonettes on the coiner of Maybury Street, but facing Blackshaw Road, which are on offer to the local residents' association on a short term lease for use as a social centre and youth club.
