Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) in the light of the acute shortage of petrol and diesel oil in parts of Wales including Ceredigion, what steps he proposes to take to remedy the situation; and if he will make a statement;

(2)what steps he is taking to ensure adequate supplies of petrol and diesel oil for agricultural operations in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what action he has already taken to assist farmers in Wales in ensuring that there is a sufficient supply of fuel to gather the harvest.

I am keeping in close touch with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Energy and my officials are in contact with his on individual cases of difficulty. In most instances problems have been resolved following discussions with suppliers.
