HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 cc630-1W
Mr. Cohen

asked the Minister of Transport if, in view of the reluctance of traffic commissioners to license more liberally in the public interest inclusive tours by coach in the United Kingdom pursuant to the amendments introduced by section 8 and schedule 2 to the Transport Act 1978, he will undertake that his forthcoming Bill, which will deal, inter alia, with the introduction of more competition between bus operators, will remove the restrictions on competition between licensed public service vehicle operators in the operation of extended tours and excursions in line with the free market situation which exists in the operation of holidays by air, sea and rail.

Mr. Fowler

This is one of the relaxations I am considering.
