asked the Minister of Transport if he will give particulars of the 12 firms which have received in aggregate the greatest value of road building contracts placed by his Department in the past three years and the total value of the contracts received by each.

(11) Mears Construction Ltd. 10.9
(12) Amey Roadstone Construction Ltd. (c) 9.4

(a) Sir Alfred McAlpine and Son Ltd. and Fairclough Civil Engineering Ltd. in consortium have been awarded two other contracts valued at £21.8 million.

(b) Balfour Beatty Ltd. has won one other contract valued at £11.3 million in consortium with Amey Roadstone Construction Ltd. and another valued at £10.6 million in consortium with Clugston Construction Ltd.

(c) Amey Roadstone Construction Ltd. are in consortium with Balfour Beatty Ltd. in the £11.3 million contract referred to at (b) above.
