HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 cc606-7W
Mr. Cryer

asked the Secretary of State for Industry by what means he proposes to reduce the amount of form filling by small businesses, both manufacturing and service, employing fewer than 200 employees.

Mr. David Mitchell

The Government are determined to reduce the burden that form-filling imposes on industry, particularly on small firms, and are actively considering what new initiatives are to be taken. Benefits are expected to come from the Government's plans to lighten the load of legislative requirements and may also arise as a spin-off from Sir Derek Rayner's investigation into the efficiency of central Government. In addition, a review of all statistical surveys is in progress.
