§ Mr. Peter Lloydasked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will show in percentage terms how far above or below the medians of their respective analogues the pay settlements of the administrative, professional and technical officer and executive grades of the Civil Service were in each year since 1965 during which pay research was operative.
§ Mr. ChannonEach pay research settlement is based on negotiations which centre on the medians and takes account of differences in conditions of service 531W and other relevant factors. The negotiations for each grade are usually confidential to the official side and the union involved and therefore I am not at liberty to reveal details of past settlements as suggested by my hon. Friend.
