§ Mr. ChannonThe rules of the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship states that its objects shall be "to relieve old age, suffering, hardship and distress among its beneficiaries". The fellowship employs a full-time staff of eight at its headquarters office, Local activities, including a visiting service, are carried out by retired civil servants on a voluntary basis. The fellowship received a grant of £66,000 from the Civil Service Department in 1978–79.
