HC Deb 27 July 1979 vol 971 c577W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what action the Government are taking to promote their policy of fuel conservation by informing the public of the fuel savings resulting from the use of low viscosity oils in motor vehicles.

Mr. John Moore

The Government are aware of the claims made about the fuel savings to be gained from the use of low viscosity oils. At present tests of such oils are being carried out in the Government fleet by the Property Services Agency, but no results are yet available. Any Government promotion of these oils would thus be premature.
